Details
When you add custom field or modify an existing field in Field Maps, you may need to change its edit type. The edit type you select is based on what information, and how, you want users to enter in the field. Some custom fields are restricted to specific edit types:
  • Custom Float fields can only be changed to Integer, Money, Mini Picker, or Drop-Down.

  • Custom Integer fields can only be changed to Mini Picker or Drop-Down.

  • Custom Text fields can be changed to anything except Float, Money, Date/Time, and Integer.

  • Custom Date fields can only be changes to Date/Time or Time.

  • Custom Text Block fields (as well as DHTML Editor fields, but you likely wouldn't change those) are the only fields that can be changed to Check Boxes.

Text SSNSocial security numbers in the format XXX-XX-XXXX. Users must enter both the numbers and dashes in this exact format.N/A; Bullhorn recommends using the Text edit type for the ssn field as it allows more freedom in formatting for identification numbers in other countries.

Number Fields

Edit Type Name

Edit Type Description

Edit Type Example

NumericA number with or without a decimal. Note that numbers should not begin with a zero as Bullhorn will delete the zero (i.e., not good for zip codes).N/A; Bullhorn does not recommend using this edit type as any text entered that is not a number or a decimal will be truncated upon saving the record. Unlike other number fields, you do not see an error.
FloatA number with up to two decimal places.User-added image
MoneyA number with up to two decimal places. A money symbol displays to the right of this field; you can define this symbol via the CurrencyFormat system setting. The supported values for this setting are USD (U.S. Dollars), CAD (Canadian Dollars), GBP (British Pounds), AUD (Australian Dollars), EUR (Euro), HKD (Hong Kong Dollars), NZD (New Zealand Dollars), JPY (Japanese Yen), PLN (Polish Zloty), CHF (Swiss franc), AED (United Arab Emirates dirham), SGD (Singapore dollar), HUF (Hungarian Forint), DKK (Danish krone), SEK (Swedish krona), NOK (Norwegian krone), ZAR (South African rand), INR (Indian rupee), and None (no currency symbol).User-added image
PercentageA percentage with up to two decimal places. A percentage symbol (%) displays to the right of this field.User-added image
Phone NumberA ten-digit US phone number in the format XXXXXXXXXX. Users must enter all ten digits without any punctuation. If they do not, Bullhorn will not display the numbers correctly.N/A; instead of this edit type, Bullhorn recommends using the Text edit type as it will allow both punctuation (e.g., dashes, parentheses), and more than ten digits for international numbers.
IntegerA whole number (non-decimal).User-added image

If you are not currently using the Picker: Text: State edit type but would like to, contact Bullhorn Support. This change requires a data update.
State Mini PickerA list of states in the US or Canada for which a user may select any number of options, and/or type in their own option.N/A; instead of this edit type, Bullhorn recommends using the Picker: Text: State edit type, as it contains a list of every state by country, users can filter to view states within a specific country, and the database stores the full name of the state instead of the abbreviation. If you are not currently using the Picker: Text: State edit type but would like to, contact Bullhorn Support. This change requires a data update.
Picker: Text:

  • Job Posting

  • People

  • Skills

  • Specialty

  • State

A value defined for the given picker type. For example, when you set up Bullhorn you define Categories for your business. When you use the Picker: Category edit type, the user can choose from those categories. The Picker: People edit type includes candidates, contacts, and internal users. Bullhorn stores these values in the database as text values.
